Lucy created ‘Victorian Place setting’ at an After School Club as part of Artsmark at Battyeford C of E Primary School, Yorkshire.

The pupils worked with professional artist Helaina Sharpley for a period of six after school sessions. They looked at first hand ‘tableware’- plates, spoons, forks and the like, along with secondary sources of imagery depicting Victorian era and modern kitchenware as inspiration for their own artworks.

They created a range of continuous line drawings and then used tools (pliers) to form a wirework sculpture/drawing that responded to the initial drawn image.

The final artwork is mounted on to a canvas with decorative kitchen style wallpaper backing to tie in with the theme.

The kitchen was the theme for an after school club run by professional wire artist Helaina Sharpley in school.

Over six sessions the children looked at Victorian tableware and images of the Victorian era and modern kitchenware as inspiration for their own artworks.

They drew continuous line drawings and then used tools (pliers) to form a wirework sculpture/drawing in response to their initial drawing.

Lucy chose to draw and sculpt a place setting from first hand sources.
