    Megan Sambrook (14)

Megan created ‘Skyline’ at The Children’s Art School, Holmfirth, Yorkshire, an independent art club for children and young people which promotes arts education as a tool to develop creative and innovative thinking.

The young artist, who attends the Senior Art Club, spent some time making observational drawings of a model city made from cardboard boxes by the Junior Art Club. She created stencils from the drawings which were used to create mono prints which she then added to with collage.

Megan set out to create a skyline through observational drawing in order to explore composition and mono printing techniques.

During her research, she looked at Sunset over Manhattan, 2003 by Tim Noble and Sue Webster. The artist made observational drawings of a model city created from cardboard boxes by the Junior Art Club.

Stencils from the drawings were used to create mono prints, then added to with collage.

Challenges included observational drawing, creating stencils, working out positive and negative spaces, and composition.
