The girls worked with social documentary photographer Katherine Green, exploring the bonds of community in north Cambridge; comparing their own experiences with that of previous generations.
The project worked on a skills-share basis; the girls wanted to develop their photographic skills, and in return took Katherine on walks around the area and supported her as she took portraits of adult members of the community who contribute to local life.
They also worked with poet Hollie McNish to create poems about their lives, which informed artwork titles and the resulting exhibition.
North Cambridge Girls Group are targeted young people supported by youth services. The girls face many challenges including mental health and teenage pregnancy. Committing to something through to a conclusion has been a huge achievement.
