‘Dinosaur World’ was created by a group of eight children attending Junior Art Club The Children’s Art School, Holmfirth, Yorkshire. The Art School is an independent art club for children and young people which promotes arts education as a tool to develop creative and innovative thinking. The club meets after school and on Saturdays.

The children wanted to create an exciting volcanic landscape, to be inhabited by individually drawn dinosaurs.

The group was excited and enthusiastic. They created a large scale mono print on to which they collaged flames and dinosaurs, and splashed with water and pigment to create explosions.

The children wanted to create an exciting volcanic landscape, to be inhabited by individually drawn dinosaurs.

The group was excited and enthusiastic. They created a large scale mono print on to which they collaged flames and dinosaurs, and splashed with water and pigment to create explosions.

There were a number of challenges: observational drawing of toy model dinosaurs; translating 2D to 3D; working as a team; working on a large scale; controlling splashing and flicking to create energetic marks.”
